Although Phoenix now stands as one of the major markets for traditional country, many old-school country fans have become alienated by the city's other C&W radio outlets. Both come off a little too slick and commercialized compared to the off-the-beaten-path playlist favored by Wickenburg's high-powered KSWG. Calling itself Arizona's "Real Country" station, KSWG features a mix of old artists rubbing elbows with up-and-comers like Gretchen Wilson, Jeff Bates and Rhonda Vincent -- anyone fits, "as long as they sound Ôreal,'" according to the station's mission statement -- not to mention Kip Pollay's weekly fishing reports. IM SURE GLAD YOU PLAY COUNTRY BECAUSE I WATCHED THE AWARDS LAST NIGHT . AND IF THIS IS WHAT COUNTRY IS COMING TO IM SURE GLAD I HAVE A TON OF TAPES CDS ANDWHATEVER AND RECORDS BECAUSE IF THAT WAS COUNTRY . I DONT WANT TO EVEN THINK ABOUT WHATS TO COME . To Whom it may concern,I assume the audience can write in a suggestion for possible entertainment for your show, if so I would like to make a strong suggestion. I was fortunate enough to catch his performance on a local TV program here in Portland, OR. The song he chose was off his recently released, second album. What was different about the song selections in his latest release is that he allowed the fans to vote for their favorite six songs to be on the CD. To be honest, I normally do not tune into Country & Western music, however the singer and his lead guitarist got my attention and held it all the way through. Needless to say, I was quite impressed. His name is Travis Rush, singer/song writer and the song that is getting a lot of attention is “You’ll Find Your Way”. He lives outside of Portland, travels back and forth to Nashville, Tennessee. The lyrics to his song come right from the heart of a genuine cowboy, of the Northwest. It is warm and passionate and the melody is a perfect match. It’s one of those numbers that sticks in your head and you can’t forget. Travis Rush, when you see his video you note he is a young honest, humble man with a million dollar smile, and a country swagger. I highly recommend Travis Rush, sometime in the near future for a guest spot on your show.
