BEST PLACE TO BUY A PURSE DOG Phoenix 2007 - Arizona Pups

These days, it seems like you can't be a true diva unless you've got a pint-size pup peeking out of your purse, particularly a Chihuahua. Songstress Katharine McPhee owns a cutie-pie named Nena, while Demi Moore dotes on Vida Blue, and Paris Hilton has both Tinkerbell and Hendrix.

But before you beat feet to the closest pet store and purchase your own tiny tail-wagger, we recommend perusing the bundles of spastic joy available through Arizona Puppies. Unlike many of the so-called "puppy mills" stationed in malls throughout the Valley, this cooperative of "ethical toy dog breeders" ensures the AKC-certified Chihuahuas they're selling are completely disease free and are bred in a humane manner. Their selection is also quite staggering, offering a variety of different Chihuahua breeds and sizes, including longhairs, shorthairs, deer types, appleheads, and teacups. (A sister site, www.aztoydogs.com, offers such other breeds as Pomeranians, Shih Tzus, and Papillons).

Pricing is a little steep, starting at $500 and going as high as $1,650. But, hey, no one said living the sweet life was gonna be cheap.

Just stumbled on this "Best of" while looking for live music on the socially responsible/progressive New Times Site. Maybe not, huh? Very disturbed to see you perpetuated the trend of purse dogs AND were irresponsible enough to suggest a breeder. Get with it! Roll up your sleeves and visit some local shelters - just might inspire you to write a worthwhile story, or award a shelter with the next "Best of." Shame on you for selling out to the "sweet life" at the expense of an actual living creature. Grow up.

Worst Place To Buy A Purse Puppy 2007

I can not believe what I am reading. Did anybody do any research on this guy who is a puppy broker ? He is a crook,he does it to rip off people, he sells puppies on the internetknows nothing about them, when he sells them he collects the money, and takes the puppy from the breeder, and tellsthe breeder he has not gotten the money yet, and then doesnot give you the puppy, gives you excuses on why he can not send you the puppy, In the meantime, I suppose he sellsthe puppy to someone else. He promised me two at differnettimes, I never received either one. I NEVER RECD MY MONEY EITHER. It has been a Yr. now. Please look at www.ripoffreports.com company www.arizonapups.com or his name William KnellAlso you can read about alot of people who have been ripped off by this guy and his wife.http://www.complaint.tv/arizon...

Do not buy from this place, you will not receive anythingbut STRESS.

I am completely disgusted that New Times would put ANYTHING like this in their 'Best Of' list. NO ETHICAL, RESPONSIBLE BREEDER WOULD SELL THEIR PUPPIES TO A PET STORE. They keep their dogs until they sell. Sometimes they don't sell. But for responsible, ethical breeders it isn't about the profit.

Millions of dogs DIE every year in shelters. There are PLENTY of "purse dogs" at your local pound. That is where I got my 8lb Miniature Pinscher for $60.00! That included his adoption fee, microchip, rabies shot AND having him neutered!

SHAME ON YOU NEW TIMES.

I was cracking up hysterically when I just read your website that says: \"Phoenix New Times: Hardcore\"Yah right!!! Hardcore????!!!??? Hardcore what????You guys are corporate sell outs with not an ounce of alternative blood in your veins! And now to top it off you are advertising dog breeding of all things! HELLO!!! The winner if this category should have been the humane shelter or any of the various dog recues in the valley. You guys suck and are getting worse every year with your conservative, white bread, kiss ass, no balls writing!Shame on you!

$500 for a dog? Are you people insane?A Chihuahua at the pound is $65. Spayed, neutered, shots, tags, microchip. Be a bubblehead like Paris Hilton or Brittany Spears. Buy a 500 dollar dog at this pet store.I'll save a life and get mine at the pound.

With over 300 perfectly great dogs being euthanized in Maricopa County every day, how irresponsible of you, New Times, to encourage breeding for money.

Arizona Pups is in it for the money, and we're doing all we can out here to save lives and encourage spaying and neutering.

www.azhumane.org or maricopa.gov/pets. There's plenty of designer dogs at the pound or Humane Society.

Shame on you.
