Joe Arpaio Announces J.T. Ready-Style Vigilante Force
Arpaio's new field marshal? He and Hendershott would get along just fine...
Looks like Sheriff Joe is ripping off an idea from none other than Arpaio supporter and committed neo-Nazi J.T. Ready.
In a press release published today by the MCSO, Arpaio says he intends to commission a volunteer vigilante force to hunt illegal aliens.
The release states, "The Sheriff will soon implement his plan to commission a volunteer armed posse force outfitted with appropriate hardware and gear to assist in the enforcement of illegal immigration and human smuggling laws."
Of course, the sheriff already has an armed posse of alter kockers. You know, the pear-shaped codgers you see "patrolling" the malls at Christmas time. The MCSO's Web site claims there are 3,000 of them all told, though the actual number is probably much lower.
In any case, an "armed" vigilante force "outfitted with the appropriate hardware" to "assist" in the enforcement of immigration laws could well be a description of swastika-licker J.T. Ready's U.S. Border Guard, which has been operating in Pinal and Maricopa Counties since at least June.
Ready's scored some major publicity with the group, coming across migrants in the desert, the occasional dead body, and in one case, a cache of drugs.
As Arpaio's had his links in the past (and currently) to right-wing extremist groups, here's a chance for him to hook up with them once again. Heck, maybe he could even make Ready a Field Marshal in the new force, with epaulettes, a baton and a shiny new cap.
