An Inconvenient Untruth
Lying is the essential strategy when surviving adolescence. We tell our parents were going to see a movie while were really planning to drive out to the abandoned dog track (across the highway from the state prison) and smoke a jammer. But now that were adults, weve dropped the habit. There are huge consequences at stake, like those evidenced in The Story, a play about a Washington Post reporter named Janet Cooke whose Pulitzer Prize-winning article about an 8-year-old drug addict turned out to be a big, fat fib. Black Theatre Troupe presents the Tracey Scott Wilson vehicle.
