If you’re into the genre of mashups, no doubt you’ve heard of the dope DJ duo of Adrian and the Mysterious D (a.k.a. A Plus D). Over the past six years, the punky San Francisco couple have pimped the art form of smashing together songs, either through their own masterful mixes (like merging Kanye and classical to create “Beethoven's Fifth Gold Digger”) or the series of Bootie club nights they’ve put on across the globe. Debuting back in 2003 at Frisco’s Cherry Bar, the mashup dance party has since spread to such cities as Munich and Beijing, and is coming to Club Red on Friday, April 24. A Plus D plan on dropping some of their coolest creations on the crowd, including “Addicted to White Lines” (a boss blending of Grandmaster Flash, Robert Palmer, and Protection) and “Love Will Tear You Apart” (combing She Wants Revenge with Joy Division and Bahaus), as well as the works of other mashup producers. Valley hipsters Jared Alan and William Fucking Reed will also spin. Free Bootie mash-ups CDs will be handed out to the first 50 people.
Fri., April 24, 8 p.m., 2009
