These days, you cant check your MySpace bulletins without being bombarded by epileptic-seizure-inducing fliers for hipster dance nights. But none of these L.A. runoff, faux-Ray-Ban-wearing affairs would exist if not for Panic!, Phoenixs original alternative dance party. While the days of the $2.50 Long Island iced tea at Andersons Fifth Estate (and Andersons itself) are long gone, the good people who brought you Panic! are at it again with Obscura, a divey new dance night that happens every second Friday of the month and features DJs Manchester and Roya spinning Brit-pop, 80s, and (current) indie rock.
Second Friday of every month, 8 p.m., 2009
