Two seasons ago, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was hoisting an NBA championship trophy over his head. Today the brazen billionaire's Mavs are hobbling their way out of playoff contention for the first time in more than a decade. Despite some questionable moves and a failed off-season bid for marquee guard Deron Williams, Dallas can still saddle its dwindling hopes to their trusty German workhorse, Dirk Nowitski.
That's more than can be said about the Phoenix Suns, who face off against the Mavs Friday, February 1, at US Airways Center, 201 East Jefferson Street. At the season's midway point, the last-place Suns are off to their worst start since Bush Sr. was Prez -- well before half their roster was even born.
