It’s said that there’s no place like home, which is especially apt when it comes to the Arizona State University Sun Devils baseball team. The devil squad has notched an impressive win-loss record at Packard Stadium this year, and is hoping for a few more victories during their final home stand of the season against UCLA this weekend.

Neither school has made it to the top of the Pac-10 standings, but it’s ASU’s numerous non-conference wins that give them the edge over their SoCal foes in national rankings.

Here’s the kicker: Even if ASU takes the three-game series against the Bruins, said wins could ultimately prove to be futile in regards to the college baseball playoffs. As of press time, the Sun Devils are appealing an NCAA edict from last December, which is likely to keep them out of postseason competition due to an infraction by the ASU athletic department.

Even if the decision is upheld (and their playoff hopes are dashed), expect the pitchfork pack to prove why they should be a top seed this year during the series, which starts on Friday, May 27, at Packard Stadium, 200 South Rural Road in Tempe.
