Flights of Fantasy
Golden Age superheroes represented more than just wish fulfillment. They were a beacon pointing the way to a brighter tomorrow -- a four-color world in which hope endured and people emerged from tragedy stronger. Its a world every kid needs to believe in, even if it is completely out of touch with reality.
Don some tights (optional) and speed to "Zap! Pow! Bam! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books," 1938-1950, an interactive exhibit exploring such timeless greats as Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman and Captain America. The show includes vintage artwork, books, movie serials, interactive displays and a retro coin-operated Batmobile ride. Theres also a drawing studio, comic book nook and costume stations, where kids can find everything they need to gear up as their favorite hero.
Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sundays, 1-5 p.m. Starts: June 16. Continues through Sept. 2, 2011
