Gay Ol' Time
Some Phoenicians are backwards-thinking when it comes to shit like birther bills and illegal immigration, but at least our kids can talk about their sexual orientation in school.
Same-sex marriage may not be legal here, but theres plenty more for the gay (or should we say, Takei?), lesbian, bisexual and transgender community to celebrate at the annual Phoenix Pride Awards Gala. The event will feature a silent auction, performances by the Phoenix Mercury Hip-Hop Squad and YEP Fusion Dance Crew, live music and a cocktail hour with free champagne and Barefoot wine. Arizona state representative Katie Hobbs will deliver the keynote speech, proving that the LGBT community still has a solid voice in local politics.
