Even before Fifty Shades of Felt put Phoenix on the Christian-and-Ana parody map, we were a tour stop for a musical called Spank! that also enjoys the legal protection afforded spoofs. Now Cuff Me: The Fifty Shades of Grey Unauthorized Musical Parody struts its chafed, lightly bruised off-Broadway self into Playhouse on the Park.
This comedic reimagining is peppy as all hell, featuring familiar showtunes and pop with racy new lyrics. (Like Rihanna needed to get dirtier.) Expect to mingle with diverse fans of mommy-porn, including clumps of in-the-know elder ladies who practically invented getting down. General admission is $45, and VIP tickets, entitling one to priority seating, are $70. Sunday, March 2’s curtain is 2 p.m. The company continues its grueling, tempestuous relationship with the Valley through Sunday, March 16, at 1850 North Central Avenue. Plenty of sleep and regular, well-balanced meals are recommended. Call 602-254-2151 or visit www.tickets.phoenixtheatre.com.
