Home for the Holidays
Zach Braff of Scrubs is also a writer (e.g., Garden State). His first and very funny stage play, All New People, presented by Stray Cat Theatre through Saturday, December 21, finds main character Charlie hoping to be alone and miserable at a New Jersey beach house in the middle of winter. But he’s disturbed -- um, we mean he’s disturbed by intruders who take it upon themselves to cheer him when they happen upon the house Charlie had hoped would remain deserted. Quirky laughs aplenty ensue.
Whether Charlie’s funk lifts or not, yours will, if for no other reason than that Louis Farber’s directing an adorable and talented cast in these high jinks. Hit Tempe Performing Arts Center, 132 East Sixth Street, for an 8 p.m. curtain Saturday, December 7. Tickets are $15 to $25 (with $10 student seats Thursdays, and $12 Sundays for everyone) at 480-227-1766 or www.straycattheatre.org.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m.; Thursdays, 7 p.m. Starts: Dec. 6. Continues through Dec. 21, 2013
