Hope Precariously Floats
The outside world must think of Arizonans as big, fat poseurs who are always looking to copy character instead of creating their own. And they may have a point. Ten years ago, Los Angeles real estate was busting its load all over mid-century-modern architects. What are we doing? Still freaking out about Haver homes.
However, most of the country would be jealous knowing that we boast something as quirky as the Great Cardboard Boat Regatta. The event features boats made from corrugated cardboard with some nutso designs to keep things interesting. There are prizes for them all: boats that finish first, boats with the best decor, even boats that end up at the bottom of the drink.
