Hula Plus

The Musical Instrument Museum is building a reputation for bringing music and education together to educate children and adults in a comprehensive and effective way. It takes a unique skill to make learning fun and effective, and the MIM might be mastering such a quality.

On Saturday, January 7, the MIM will host a day dedicated to the Dance and Music of Polynesia. The Ho'oulu Polynesian and Kaimikahu Hale O Hula dance schools will kick off the afternoon with an interactive presentation of Polynesian dance and music while educating attendees on the roots of Polynesian culture.

Meanwhile, museum volunteers will be hosting a drop-in crafting class where attendees will make a flower leis and rattle instruments similar to those used by the dancers. inally, attendees can return for the evening concert featuring Kaumakaiwa Kanaka’ole, a five-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano (Hawaiian Grammy) Award winner.
