Julianne Swartz's artwork is transformative. It's interactive -- playful, engaging, and thought-provoking, too. The artist is known for her installations that morph traditional spaces into exploration-worthy environments. And her Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art exhibition "How Deep Is Your" delivers on all expected fronts.
Swartz will be on hand to discuss her show during the museum's fall opening reception on Friday, October 11. Also on the evening's list of things to see are a performance from bamboo flautist Bobby Seigetsu Avstreih and recently open exhibition "Narrow Road to the Interior," which showcases meditative works from seven Japanese contemporary artists.
The celebration is free and open to the public. It runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at 7374 East Second Street. For more, visit www.smoca.org or call 480-874-4665.
