Most people commemorate road trips with photos, kitschy T-shirts, and good stories, but how about a tattoo? Day trips are one of the best ways to beat the grueling summer months in Phoenix, and the Northern Arizona Tattoo Festival is a solid reason to head up to Prescott for the weekend. The three-day event features world-renowned artists Horimasa Bunshin-Saikian, a Japanese artist known for his traditional work, and Lyle Tuttle, who has tattooed the likes of Janis Joplin and Cher. Tattoo contests that celebrate great work like portraits, sleeves, and traditional tattoos span the entire weekend, though the "worst tattoo" contest is worth checking out, too. Not all pieces can be stellar, which is why the worst tattoo owner will be awarded a free laser removal session.
