You grew up in a fascist household where creativity wasnt encouraged. At age 2, when you drew an abstract version of your dog, your parents took note of its asymmetry and shook their heads critically. They couldnt tolerate anything but pure genius, and if that wasnt achievable, they enforced utter conformity.
Things at Kollectiv Art and Design Group are different. Its members include both upcoming and established artists who, despite their varied backgrounds, exhibit their works alongside each other to encourage creative debate. In the group show currently on display, youll see young and rising talent Isaac Carusos acrylic-on-wood pieces, Patricia Jensens dreamlike childhood studies, and Jason Rudolph Penas modern portraiture, which has been described as Urban Noir Romanticism.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 1. Continues through Aug. 31, 2008
