Novel Manners

It must have started with zombies. Add a little apocalyptic action to a Jane Austen novel and once dry social commentary becomes riveting comedy. But years after Pride and Prejudice and Zombies hit the stores, it seems bookish scholars and college dropouts alike still revel in the wondrous comedic potential of the romance novelist’s literary masterpieces.

In Jane Austen Unscripted, Los Angeles-based, award-winning improv company, Impro Theater, presents a new spin on plain Jane with an entirely off-the-cuff performance -- no plot or characters planned -- taking place in the early 19th century world of Austen’s works.
