Room For Love
Tommy Wiseau might not be a rock star laying down a killer guitar riff or stage diving, but he has emitted a frontman-worthy primal scream of the line YOURE TEARING ME APART, LISA! in the 2003 film, The Room. The indie-drama-turned-cult-comedy-classic has put its lead actor, writer, director, and producer in the spotlight of The Love is Blind Tour, which stops in Tempe.
To simply call The Room so bad its good doesnt do it justice; its more of a slow-burning fever dream, its inadvertent surreality set to quiet storm R&B and noodling Renaissance Faire tunes. The plot ostensibly concerns a torrid love triangle, but with half a dozen minor characters randomly weaving in and out, its easy to see how the films non-sequiturs -- with visuals that include framed pictures of silverware -- grabs peoples attention.
The shindig, which includes the oddly charismatic Wiseau (of indeterminate Eastern European descent, but preferring to be called American) who will field questions about the film and himself.
