Buckle up, Phoenix art community: Art Detour returns this weekend. The annual celebration of local art draws visitors from around the state to see the latest work by hundreds of Phoenix-based artists and art spaces. The event began 25 years ago (before First, Third, and Final Fridays), when members of Arizona non-profit Artlink wanted to bring local artists together and showcase their work for a large audience.
Since its inception, the event has grown, but the mission to connect the artists to the community has remained the same. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 2 and 3, attendees are encouraged to sign up for free artist- and docent-led tours through galleries and studios, follow self-guided tours, and hop on shuttles that stop along Roosevelt Row, Grand Avenue, and more.
Sat., March 2, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sun., March 3, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., 2013
