Well-traveled journalist/environmental author Bassett is best known for her works of literary nonfiction, such as Galapagos at the Crossroads: Pirates, Biologists, Tourists, and Creationists Battle for Darwin's Cradle of Evolution and the Arizona-desert paean Organ Pipe: Life on the Edge.
