Taste & Music
Traditional Arabic music employs a diverse array of instruments, including violin, oud, Riq, Ney and Quanun. The music, while often considered “off” to western ears, is highly emotional, moving and hypnotic. There are modern adaptations as well, focusing on a more danceable form presented via keyboards. This is how the music will sound at Mijana Restaurant’s Arabian Party, Saturday, September 7.
The party will feature Lebanese star Raid Al Samar, flying in direct from Dubai. Ramzi Madanat will also perform. Belly dancer Haifa will circulate, engaging all who wish to participate during the family-friendly evening. Hookah will also be available from the neighboring Hookah Mania, a local favorite. A full menu will be available as well.
The free Arabian Party kicks off at 9:30 p.m. at Mijana, 1290 North Scottsdale Road in Tempe. Call 480-829-4959.
