Mapping out a bus route to make sure you get to all of your stops on time can be difficult enough, but imagine taking an entire bus system and putting all the intricacies on display using only wood balls and copper rods. It's enough to make some people dizzy, but for Brooklyn-based artist R. Justin Stewart, it's all in a day's work. His exhibit 2AM-2PM aims to make the complexities of the Sunday Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Transit System more visually appealing.
"I'm personally really interested in this ambiguity and this shifting that happens in the piece, but a lot of times, what interests a lot of people is the complexity of the structure," says Stewart. "There's a difficulty of visually perceiving what you're seeing because it's a simple set of materials and textures that are similar. Your eyes have to adjust and work a little bit to figure out what you're looking at."
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: April 2. Continues through Aug. 8, 2010
