Domo is quite possibly the most underrated band in Phoenix. Sadly, they don't perform around town much, but they when do appear, it's a treat. With their catchy, bouncy, spritely, and endearing songs, they combine both pop and punk sensibilities without veering into the dreaded and disgusting teeny-bop genre known as pop punk. Their shows burst with energy as frontman Jason Sukut can barely keep himself from falling over amidst the onstage frenzy. His brilliant songwriting is too often overlooked, and his diversity as a musician is startling. (He also plays in Source Victoria, known for their control, musical builds, and the thoughtful shape given to each of their songs.) Their new record means new material that, surely, not enough people will be hip to. Do yourself a favor and see Domo while you can.
