When it comes to hip-hop, it doesn’t get any more old-school than KRS-One. The 43-year-old MC is an icon and living legend who’s spent the past two decades educating many rhyme-spitting rappers on coming correct. He’s had particular influence on PHX artists, including a recent collaboration with Cut Throat Logic co-frontman Justus. So it’s only natural that KRS-One will lend his opinions to the Hip-Hop in Phoenix Roundtable on Saturday, November 8, at ASU’s Evelyn Smith Music Theatre, 40 East Gammage Parkway in Tempe. The topics under discussion include the local scene and the role of graffiti artwork on urban landscapes. The doors open at 2 p.m. and admission is free.

In the evening, KRS-One performs at the Clubhouse Music Venue, 1320 East Broadway Road in Tempe, sharing the bill with Cousin Affect, Amani Jae, DJ Fro and others.
Sat., Nov. 8, 8 p.m., 2008
