The recurring nightmare of our childhood always featured severed limbs somersaulting through the air, flung from the dark recesses of our closet by some hooded creature. Wed be paralyzed from the waist down, attempting to pull ourselves to safety through an otherworldly and expansive land of shaggy carpet. Struggling through the hairy morass, wed look back and realize with horror that the creature had mounted our lifeless legs and sawed halfway through them. Our screams would always awake us.
Yes, were messed up.
The Nightmare Catchers exhibit is a tribute to that psychological commotion we have all experienced during sleep. Through paintings and sculpture, the exhibition conjures the terror and fascination we endure during nightmares. Participating artists include The Molten Brothers, Sam Esmoer, Chela Mischke, Tony Ash, Mike Maas, and Wolfgang Hundhausen.
