Local commercial and editorial photographer Richard Maack agrees with famous war photographer Robert Capas resonant advice: If your photographs arent good enough, youre not close enough. He also knows that good photography is more about the brain than the camera.
Maack worked as photography editor at Arizona Highways for a decade and continues to take photos for the sacred cow of sunset and saguaro shots. Hes also a Lindblad/National Geographic expedition team guest photographer who sails around the world shooting in the most interesting and scenic locales.
Maack shares his work, enthusiasm, and wildlife photography tips with the public during a lecture entitled Travel Photography "Cool" Tips & Techniques. For the talk, Maack is taking the word cool quite literally. To give us a little relief from the hellish heat, he will be presenting images -- complete with icebergs and penguins -- from a recent adventure to Antarctica.
