Ira Glass’ nasally, comforting voice leisurely moving through our speakers on a Saturday afternoon means one thing: WBEZ Chicago’s This American Life is on. Well, okay, two things; it’s also laundry day.

But when the show’s This American Life Live! episode screens at Phoenix Art Museum, we’ll leave the mountains of socks and undies at home (mostly because, like we said, Saturdays are for washing and drying). Instead, our eyes will be glued to the taped variety show featuring all sorts of goodies that don’t translate via radio, like dance, animation, and video. In the mix are a short film from comedian Mike Birbiglia, stand-up from Tig Notaro, an OK Go performance, and -- squeal -- a storytelling sesh with David Sedaris.
