The late Gene Roddenberry had a particularly optimistic vision of the future when he created his landmark Star Trek TV series back in 1966. Mankind would abandon racism, sexism, and other small-minded traits in favor of living in peace and harmony amongst the stars and zooming around in snazzy looking spacecraft.

Needless to say, if the “Great Bird of the Galaxy” were to see a few episodes of Voyage Trekkers, he’d probably lose his shit. The locally produced Star Trek parody depicts the misadventures of Captain Sunstrike and the crew of the Starship Remarkable as a hilariously un-P.C. romp filled with double entendres, racial humor, and madcap misanthropy.

A screening of episodes from the online series’ first season will be held Sunday at FilmBar and include a preview of future episodes, a Q&A session with the creators, and stand-up comedy from cast member James Hoenscheidt.
