If you hear a drone of grumbling emanating from college campuses across the Valley this week, it's because woeful students are returning to school following summer break. Who can blame them? Reporting back to school after vacay is about as fun as heading to work after a lost weekend.
It’s the sort of pain that can only be tamed by a stiff drink (or three), like the libations that will be available during the New Times Back to School Pub Crawl on Friday, August 24, at Tempe Marketplace. Members of the textbook brigade, and any other bon vivant of drinking age, can go on a one-night excursion through the mall's various bars and pubs.
The adventure starts at 8 p.m. at Thirsty Lion, where drinkers check in before moving on to Cadillac Ranch, Kabuki, San Felipe’s, and Dave & Buster's. Each participant will receive a playing card and one free drink at each stop. Those with the best poker hands by the end of the night might win a trip to Sin City or other prizes.
