The nightlife-loving cats at Scottsdale's Axis-Radius are planning one helluva party this weekend that likely will go down as one of the most memorable in the club's 16-year history. Sadly, that's because the iconic and influential establishment is about to become history.

If you haven't heard the news, the double-sided nightclub, dance joint, and party playground is closing its doors after more than a decade and a half of slinging both beats and booze to thousands of clubgoers and serving as one of the landmark spots in Old Town. Since its opening in 1997, Axis-Radius, 7340 East Indian Plaza, has functioned as a haven for all manner of drinking and dancing by the bottle-popping crowd, as well as playing host to more than a few celebrities, pro athletes, and other members of the glitterati.

And then there are all the superstar DJs and EDM artists who have performed at the place. As the longest-running nightclub in Scottsdale, Axis-Radius featured spin gigs by some of the more recognizable names in the biz, from Above and Beyond to Z-Trip.

The club's storied history will be celebrated in grand fashion with back-to-back soirees, kicking off on Friday, June 28 with a gigantic Blackout affair, a revival of one the club's signature theme parties that will offer spin sessions by old school Axis-Radius regulars DJ Randy and DJ Soloman. Doors open at 10 p.m. It will help set the stage for the aptly titled Last Call: The End of an Era blowout on Saturday, June 29, which will also feature such onetime resident selectors as DJ Phantom, LTJ, and promoter Steve LeVine in the mix during the joint's final hours. The party starts at 9 p.m. Admission is free for those who bring an Axis-Radius promo item from the past 16 years. Call 480-970-1112.
