Something especially malevolent will lurk just beneath downtown Phoenix after nightfall this weekend. But before you ask, it's certainly not a C.H.U.D., Balrog, or hellspawn. It's slew of sinister subterranean creatures of a more fetishistic and rivethead bent. Specifically, we're referring to the mass of pleather-clad freaks and geeks who will be stomping around during Fallout.Shelter on Saturday, January 25. The nefarious industrial dance party is making a return to the nightlife scene after a lengthy hibernation, and its promoters are holding the event in a truly fitting location: beneath the surface. According to Fallout.Shelter resident DJ and co-promoter Self.Destrukt, the deviant dance affair will go down in an unspecified underground venue somewhere downtown. "I'm going to have realistic fallout shelter signs up [in downtown] to show people where to go, but I kind of want people to find it themselves, plus leave a little mystery," Self.Destrukt says. "It's not going to be super-tricky." Creatures of the night who hope to attend might also want to visit the night's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/fallout.shelter.az) for more clues. Those fortunate enough to find their way into the insidious shindig can expect an all-out onslaught of industrial tracks and other unforgiving audio spun by Self.Destrukt, KILLtheALEXD, Mess &*Phetamine, Eden//Haus, and special DJ guest Flame of Berlin's Club Hel. Local hard-charging industrial band BlakOPz also will celebrate the release of its newest disc, As Nations Decay. Descend into the underworld starting at 9 p.m. Admission is $5.
