Memorial Day Weekend @ Various Locations

If ever there were a soundtrack to Memorial Day Weekend, it'd be electronic dance music. That's because EDM will be in abundance during MDW, whether it's in the clubs, around the pool, or at your local bar. And some of the Valley's more prominent dance music promoters and venues are planning some big gigs over the three-day holiday. To wit: Maya Day and Nightclub, 7333 E Indian Plaza in Scottsdale, will kick things off with a special DJ session by crunkmaster Lil Jon on Friday, May 23. Expect to hear his hit track "Turn Down for What," as well as hip-hop and electronica, coming from the sound system as Maya's patrons attempt to get as frantic as the peeps in the insane music video for said song. Gates open at 9 p.m. Two days later, the club will also host an afternoon performance by Dutch dance music act Showtek on Sunday, May 25. Meanwhile, across the street at INTL, 4405 North Saddlebag Trail, electro guru Laidback Luke will perform on Friday night, followed by a gig from house mixmaster Felix Cartal on Sunday event. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 and $10, respectively. And if you're down to squeeze even more dance action into the weekend, DJ/producer Henry Fong will visit Monarch Theatre, 122 East Washington Street, on Saturday, May 24.
