District American Kitchen 5-Year Anniversary Today

Today, District American Kitchen at the Sheraton Downtown Phoenix Hotel celebrates five years in business by bringing back five of their most popular dishes and cocktails. The special birthday menu includes two appetizers, two entrees and one dessert: a BLT salad, duck quesadilla, Nimbus Brown Ale short ribs, cedar-roasted Pacific salmon, and pumpkin whoopie pies. The birthday cocktail list includes an Arizonan take on a Moscow Mule called the 602 Mule, which combines vodka, prickly pear and ginger beer, as well as a pineapple lavender cocktail and a prickly pear mojito. Late Night Ramen Pop-Up at Posh Wednesday, October 2

Ramen is back at Scottsdale's only "Improvisational Cuisine" restaurant. This week, Chef Josh Hebert of Posh will host a Late Night Ramen Pop Up from 10 p.m. to midnight. The Japanese street food menu will include four types of ramen (goma, shoyu, miso, and shrimp) and okonomiyaki, a savory pancake-like dish. Each will be priced at $10. Rumor is that Hebert might also be unveiling a special ramen burger -- but you'll have to stay tuned to the Posh Facebook page for details. Japanese drink and beer specials will also be available. Sideways Screening and Central Coast Wine Tasting Thursday, October 3

FilmBar in Phoenix is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Sideways, the film that brought mainstream international attention to the Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez Valleys, this week. In addition to a special screening of the movie, wine lovers will be able to sample wines from the locations featured in the film. Wine tastings are free with a $9 ticket and producers will include Riverbench Vineyard & Winery, Clos Pepe Estate Vineyard & Winery, Kaena Wines and Solminer Wine. Oktapperfest at Flanny's Thursday, October 3

Flanny's in Tempe is teaming up with Four Peaks Brewery to celebrate Oktapperfest this week. The blowout beer event will feature more that 20 Four Peaks beers on tap with more available in cans. The party is taking over the parking lot this year, offering more space than ever for boozing and gamesoutside. The lineup of brews includes all the classics plus Oatmeal Stout, Black IPA, Barrel Aged Ryewine, Sirius Black, Sirius Black + Kilt Lifter blend, 2012 Hopsquatch, Oktoberfest, Pumpkin Porter, Bourbon Barrel Aged Raj IPA and Short Hop IPA. Brews to Benefit Friday, October 4

This Friday, join New Times at Tertio for our monthly charity happy hour event, Brews to Benefit. The event will benefit YNPN Phoenix, a nonprofit that provides "professional development and networking for young nonprofit professionals, emerging leaders and community activists in metro Phoenix" and will feature Tempe's Sleepy Dog Brewery. Featured brews will include Red Rover: Irish Red Ale, Wet Snout: Milk Stout and Monje Azul: Blonde Ale. For $10, attendees will get four drink tickets each good for a full beer each.
