How did they know I was craving Indian food?

Somebody read my mind and gave me a call about a new place that opened several weeks ago in Mesa, called India Oven.

Punjabi cuisine is the focus, and the extensive menu has a lot of tempting dishes -- a dozen different lamb entrees, goat cooked four different way (curry, saag, and more), lots of chicken and seafood, chaat like bhel puri, and goodies from the tandoor, including chicken tikka and a selection of fresh breads.

If vegetarian cuisine is your thing, this looks promising, with 18 meatless items as well.

India Oven (1315 S. Gilbert Rd., at Southern) is open daily for lunch, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and for dinner Tuesday through Sunday, 5 to 10 p.m. The lunch buffet is $7.95, and the dinner buffet is $9.95. Call 480-892-3333 for more info.
