Next month the Beer for Brains Foundation's annual Epicuread event will return to pit local chefs against each other in a contest to create the best food and wine/beer pairing possible.

Twenth local chefs will be paired with 20 local wineries and breweries and this year the stakes for the contest are particularly high. The winning chef for Best Pairing will receive a three-day trip to New York City to cook at James Beard House.

The Epicuread Food, Wine & Craft Beer Pairings Event will take place on Saturday, January 24 at the Musical Instrument Museum in Scottsdale.

VIP ticket holders will be able to come at 5 p.m. to explore the museum before checking out the chef face-off event at 6:30 p.m. That portion of the competition will showcase two local chefs in a head-to-head competition. The chefs will flip a coin to determine who cooks with beer and who cooks with wine and will then have thirty-five minutes to create an entrée using the spirits and ingredients provided.

General admission will begin at 7 p.m. at which time guests will be able to sample food and beer/wine pairings. At the end of the night attendees will vote for their favorite pairing.

The event is a fundraiser for Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children's Hospital. For more information check the Epicuriad 2015 Facebook.

Tickets can be purchased online. VIP tickets cost $150 and are limited. General admission costs $95.

Chefs interested in participating can contact Beer for Brains Founder Louis Dolgoff at [email protected] or 973-615-5031.
