Slow Food Phoenix is teaming up with Kai, the highly acclaimed fine dining restaurant at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa, for a special interactive culinary event geared toward the truly food obsessed.

Since attendance is capped at 60 guests, reservations are a must for afternoon of Saturday, January 30, when executive chef Michael O'Dowd will talk about Kai's recently published cookbook, The New Native American Cuisine, as well as cooking techniques, Native American culinary history, and more.

Starting at 1 p.m., the afternoon includes tastings, a report on sustainable food trends, and a "Plating 101" how-to on presenting five-star dishes. Guests will also receive a signed copy of the cookbook.

Call 602-385-5726 and make a reservation for "Kai Cooks." The cost is $55 per person or $85 per couple, and reservations must be paid in full by January 27.

Additional cookbooks will be available for purchase at the event for $20 plus tax. The resort is offering rooms at the special event rate of $149 (use promo code KAI2010, and call 602-225-0100 for a room reservation).
