12 Places to Watch the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Metro Phoenix

Every four years the world's soccer lovers get to indulge in watching four weeks of top-notch match ups. The 2014 FIFA World Cup begins Thursday, June 12 and you can bet bars and restaurants around town are ready to get in on the fun. We may be more than 5,000 miles away from Brazil, but that doesn't mean you can't at least get a taste of this year's World Cup host country.

Here are a dozen places around the Valley that will be showing the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Many will be opening early so fans can catch the morning games and all are offering food and drink specials throughout the tournament -- some with a little Brazilian flair.   • Arcadia Tavern
  • On early games days Arcadia Tavern will open at 8 a.m. and serve breakfast burritos for $8. Drink specials during World Cup games will include $6 shots and margaritas and $6 Brazilian Capirinhas. Arcadia Tavern has 25 televisions (inside and on the patio) and will show games with full sound. To reserve a table call 602-840-3950.

  • Four Peaks Brewing Company
  • Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe and Scottsdale are now official U.S. Soccer bars recognized by the United States Soccer Federation. As such, they will both be showing all World Cup games live and with sound. The restaurant and bar will offer a a breakfast menu for all 9 a.m. games with a regular lunch menu available after 11 a.m.

  • George & Dragon English Pub and Restaurant
  • During the World Cup George & Dragon English Pub and Restaurant will open one hour before the first game starts each day. The restaurant will be rooting for England, USA, and Mexico.

  • The Handlebar Tempe
  • The Handlebar Tempe, located on Mill Avenue, will be open at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 16; Sunday, June 22; and Thursday, June 26 -- or days when Team USA plays at 8:30 a.m. The bar will also be offering drink specials throughout the World Cup, including $5 Modelo Especials or $16 buckets. A breakfast menu will be available during early games along with a $5 Bloody Mary bar.

  • Half Moon Windy City Sports Grill
  • Half Moon Windy City Sports Grill in the Biltmore neighborhood will open at 9 a.m. on early game days to show the World Cup on its 32 HD televisions. Food and drink specials will include Rabanada, a Brazilian-style French toast dipped in a coconut milk custard, topped with melted butter, powdered sugar and coconut, served with bacon; Feijoada Breakfast Skillet, a traditional Brazilian beef and pork stew over rice in a sizzling skillet topped with a fried egg and served with a warm flour tortilla; and Caipirinha and Batida, both authentic Brazilian cocktails made with traditional Pitu cachaça sugar cane liquor.

  • Kelly's at Southbridge
  • During World Cup games Kelly's at Southbridge will be serving $3 draft beers and $3 well drinks.

  • Native Grill & Wings
  • Native Grill & Wings (formerly Native New Yorker) is offering 35 cent wings to diners watching World Cup games, as well as $15 Beer Buckets that include any five bottled beers and the restaurant's signature buffalo chips. Fans can also participate in a World Cup bracket, the winner of which will take home a Refreshonator, or cold beer dispenser. For Valley locations visit the Native Grill & Wings website.

  • Rosie McCaffrey's Irish Restaurant and Pub
  • During the 2014 World Cup Rosie McCaffrey's will be opening at 8:30 a.m. everyday and all games will be shown on television with sound. Breakfast and drink specials will also be available every day. For details check the Rosie McCaffrey's Facebook.

  • Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery
  • All Tilted Kilt Pubs will be opening at at 8:30 a.m. when the first morning game starts at 9 a.m. Diners will be able to order off a special breakfast menu that includes french toast, breakfast burritos, and corned beef and hash (all $9). Each of the Valley's five locations will be serving various $3 drink specials during all soccer matches.

  • Tim Finnegan's Irish Pub
  • Tim Finnegan's will be open for all of the early World Cup games and will offer drink specials including $3 Carlsberg drafts and $2.50 Bud Light bottles.

  • Thirsty Lion Pub & Grill
  • Thirsty Lion Pub & Grill and the Arizona Sports League will be hosting World Cup viewing parties for three Team USA matches on Monday, June 16; Sunday, June 22; and Thursday, June 26. The games will be shown on the restaurant's 16 60-inch plasma televisions. The restaurant and bar, located at Tempe Marketplace, will open at 9 a.m. for early matches.

  • Twin Peaks Camelback
  • Twin Peaks Camleback will have the games on and the sound up for all the World Cup matches. The restaurant and bar will open at 9 a.m. for the early matches and will serve their "Man Breakfast" menu until 11:30 a.m. To reserve seats call 602-954-8946.
