Seems almost predictable that someone from Scottsdale could head to Paris and fall completely in love with the City of Lights, leave friends and family behind, and make a Transatlantic move.

But it also can happen in reverse.

Last March, Richard and Isabelle Horvath visited Scottsdale from their native France, and took a little bit of Arizona sunshine back with them. Over the following year, they decided to leave behind their established careers -- he in finance, she in publishing -- and settle down in Scottsdale to open their own creperie.

Now, they're on the verge of opening Chez Vous Creperie and Gelato at Gainey Village in Scottsdale (8787 N. Scottsdale Rd.).

Savory and sweet crepes, breakfast crepes, fresh croissants, salads, French sandwiches (including create-your-own combos on baguette), and gelato desserts comprise the homey menu: Chez Vous Menu.pdf

The Horvaths have teamed up with interior design and branding company Private Label International to create an atmosphere that's as cozy and evocative of Paris as the food.

Pending final inspections, they'll tentatively have a soft opening on Monday and a grand opening the following week.
