Queen Creek Olive Mill: Grill at the Mill

When Queen Creek Olive Mill announces that its newest batch of extra virgin olive oils have been pressed, it can only mean one thing - it's time to party. Visit Arizona's only EVOO producer this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as it kicks off Olio Nuovo (Festival of the New Oil) with Grill at the Mill. Enjoy Italian pork sausage with gourmet fixings such as caramelized onions and figs; sweet red peppers and olives; and Peach Caponatina tapenades. There will also be flights of local craft beers, house sangria, complimentary wine tastings, gelato, and EVOO cupcakes. To find out more or to take a tour, visit Queen Creek Olive Mill online.

20th Annual Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival

If you feel like riding that festival train all weekend long, you can also check out the 20th Annual Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival happening Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Downtown Carefree. The event offers over 160 artists displaying over 5,000 works in various mediums. The festival also features live music, local eats, and the opportunity to sample an extensive list of wines from Arizona, California, Australia, Austria, France, Germany, and Italy. General admission is $5, and additional prices vary for art, food, and wine tastings. For more information, visit the Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival online or call 480-837-5637.

Third Friday: Manifestos and Hot Rum Cider

In many ways, Downtown Phoenix's Third Friday, is better than its predecessor (First Friday): less crowds, fewer strollers, and just the right amount of art. Check out Manifesto: Jackalope Ranch's Poster Show of Life Lessons and Rules by Phoenix Creatives debuting at the Drive-Thru Gallery. Afterward you can warm yourself up with a hot rum cocktail from any one of Chow Bella's 3 Hot (Literally) Cocktails in Downtown Phoenix. Local drinking and local art? Now that's what we call a win, win. Visit Jackalope Ranch for more information on the show.

Valley Permaculture Alliance: Fruit Tree Sale

Because home-grown produce never goes out of style, the Valley Permaculture Alliance is throwing a fruit tree sale this Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Metro Tech High School. The local nonprofit for urban sustainability in the desert will be offering bare root trees such as apple, plum, and peach; as well as expert gardening staff to help you with pruning, planting demos, gardening ideas, and more. Proceeds will benefit the VPA, allowing the non-profit to donate additional fruit trees to community gardens and schools. For more information, visit the Valley Permaculture Alliance online.

Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event

This weekend marks the finals days of the annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Scottsdale. In addition to the auctions, celebrity appearances, and the 1300 drool-worthy cars on display, this high-end event features indoor and outdoor entertainment, live music, and over 30 food and beverage vendors - from the Lobster Lady of Maine, to El Hefe Super Macho Taqueria. It's a family friendly function, but alcohol will definitely be flowing. Visit Barrett-Jackson online for various admission prices and check out the Twilight hours for discounted admission.
