Summer Kids Cooking Classes Today through Friday, June 20

Give your little one a head start on his or her culinary career with Sierra Bonita Grill's kids summer cooking classes. The week-long courses are offered for breakfast, dinner or dessert items and run throughout the summer. During the dessert classes, kids will learn how to make sweet dishes such as homemade caramel, cinnamon rolls, and cheesecake, while breakfast classes will cover how to cook omelettes, pancakes, quiche and more. The dinner classes are an expanded introduction to kitchen safety and sanitation, planning a menu and preparing a table, in addition to cooking complete entrees. Classes are open to kids 8 to 13 years of age and are held in the kitchen of Crossroads United Methodist Church. Phoenix Public Market Café Wednesday, June 18

Can you believe it's been one year since chef Aaron Chamberlin opened his Phoenix Public Market Cafe? Well, this Wednesday the restaurant will be celebrating its first birthday with live music, a corn hole competition, and local beers from the Four Peaks beer garden. The restaurant will also offer happy hour specials including $5 glasses of wine, draft beer pitchers, and cocktails, and food specials such. The one year anniversary celebration runs from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Bink's Scottsdale Wednesday, June 18

You'll be able to catch Arizona's Lawrence Dunham Vineyards this week at Bink's Scottsdale. The restaurant will be hosting a four-course wine dinner featuring the wines including the winery's signature Petite Syrah. In the past, James Beard Award finalist Chef Kevin Binkley has collaborated with local farms for special dinner events, but this will be the first time Arizona wines will be paired with Binkley's cuisine. The dinner costs $80 per person and begins at 6:30 p.m. For reservations call 480-664-9238.

Sushi Roku Wednesday, June 18

This week Sushi Roku will host its annual Kick Off to Summer Party in conjunction with National Sushi Day. The event will include a sushi seminar with Sushi Chef, Miles Newcomer, as well as a make-your-own-sushi-roll table. Guests will be able to win raffle prizes, gift certificates from Sushi Roku and Bliss Spa at the W Scottsdale. The party also marks the beginning of the restaurant's local love program that gives Arizona residents 20-percent off their bill through September 1. The Kick Off to Summer Party runs from 6 to 9 p.m.

Luci's Healthy Marketplace Friday, June 20

This Friday Luci's Healthy Marketplace is kicking off the start of summer with a Tasting Party that will feature more than 20 local vendors. You'll be able to sample everything from locally-made peanut butter to artisan tamales and peach cobbler at the free event, as well as summer wines and beers. There will be a raffle and live music -- and best of all, it's all free. The Tasting Party goes from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
