La Dolce Vita Mother's Day Pop Up Shop Saturday, May 10
Did you forget that Mother's Day is Sunday? There's still time to get Mom the perfect locally made gift. On Saturday at Nook Kitchen, Tracy Dempsey, the Girl From Arizona, and Nick LaRosa will team up to host a Mother's Day Pop Up Shop in Italian style. The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will offer desserts, designer aprons, and Italian cooking. Tracy Dempsey of Tracy Dempsey Originals will have a selection of breakfast-in-bed treats like scones with homemade butter, grapefruit Campari cream puffs, profiteroles, gluten-free brownies, and handmade marshmallows. She'll be joined by Angel Muniz of GFA Aprons, who will be selling her custom and retail aprons, including Mommy and Me sets, and chef Nick LaRosa, who will have special lunch and dinner items available for Mother's Day, as well as recipes to share during the event. Gifts will range in price from $5 to $75.

Farmer's Market Cocktail Competition Saturday, May 10
If you're going to be at Old Town Farmers Market on Saturday morning, be sure to swing by the first Farmer's Market Cocktail Competition, hosted by the U.S. Bartenders Guild Phoenix chapter. During the event, four teams of three bartenders will be given a budget to buy ingredients from around the market. Then, they'll have 30 minutes to use the ingredients to create a Finlandia Vodka (regular or flavored) cocktail. Cartel Coffee Lab: Free Coffee Tasting Sunday, May 11
This weekend, Cartel Coffee is hosting a monthly coffee tasting and demonstration series at the Phoenix Public Market Cafe. On Sunday, you can learn about brewing techniques with demos led by Cartel staff. Topics will include full-immersion brewing methods versus filter drip brews -- and best of all, attendees will get to taste the results. The demos and tastings will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. on the second Sunday of the month.
