But September 29 carries extra incentive: A few of our own museums are celebrating Smithsonian's Museum Day Live!, aimed to raise public awareness about the role museums play in our neighborhoods and communities - and to reel in a few visitors with discounts and special events.

On Saturday, September 29, museums around the country will offer free admission when visitors present a printed Museum Day Live! ticket, which can be found on the Smithsonian website. Each ticket is good for two people per household, per address.

Participating museums in Arizona include: - Arizona Historical Society Museum at Papago Park in Tempe - Arizona Historical Society in Tucson - Arizona Museum of Natural History in Mesa - Arizona State Museum in Tucson - Casa Grande Valley Historical Society and Museum in Casa Grande - Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix - Heard Museum in Phoenix - Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park in Phoenix - and University of Arizona Museum of Art in Tucson (to name a few)
