You can stop trying to pronounce Pecha Kucha and grab a ticket to the second social event; it's back with a drool-worthy lineup of local artists and designers.

On Friday, at Bragg's Pie Factory in Phoenix, presenters must show and explain 20 slides and have only 20 seconds per slide. The concept was born in Tokyo in 2003 and made its way to Phoenix this past April.

The 10 presenters include Scottsdale Cultural Council's Margaret Bruning, fashion designer/Japanese stacking mug collector Lisa Jacobs, mid-century modern design guru Alison King, industrial designer Dean Heckler, architect and Blooming Rock editor Taz Loomans, photographer Quincy Ross, web designer Brian Shaler, visual artists Lalo Cota and Angela Cazel Jahn, and programmer/event coordinator, Jason Ayers.

More event details after the jump ...

Ayers admits there are a ton of presentation-based events in Phoenix, but emphasizes that Pecha Kucha is much more about networking and learning about each artist/designer's current project for six minutes.

In curating the speakers and content, Ayers says he wanted to reach beyond what he calls the "typical online crowd" to include designers and artists who may not have a strong presence on Twitter or even in Phoenix, specifically.

"We're looking forward to a casual environment, no stage, where the people who attend can talk to the people who present about their projects and visions," says Ayers.

Tickets for Friday's event are $10, can be purchased online, and include drinks and food, provided by chef Renetto-Mario Etsitty. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a happy hour and presentations start at 7 p.m.. Festivities are more than likely to continue through the night (or at least across the street at Bikini Lounge). Bragg's Pie Factory is at 1301 Grand Ave. in Phoenix.

More information, including full speaker bios can be found on the Pecha Kucha Phoenix website.
