Midcentury Marvels Authors Talk Arizona Architecture Wednesday

The Phoenix Historic Preservation Office and Ryden Architects, Inc.will present and sign copies of their newly released book, "Midcentury Marvels: Commercial Architecture of Phoenix, 1945-1975," at Royal at the Market on Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m..

The book, described by the City as "the most comprehensive [book] ever published on the history of midcentury commercial architecture in Phoenix," features images and descriptions of iconic works by architects Ralph Haver, Al Beadle, and Bennie Gonzales, to name a few, along with more than 400 images of preserved and lost buildings throughout the city.

The book, which highlights Frank Lloyd Wright's influence on Arizona design, was funded by Federal Historic Fund Certified Local Government Grant, Phoenix Historic Preservation Bond Fund, and The Arizona Heritage Fund.

Books will be $20 at the event, or you can snag a copy at phoenix.gov/historic, or at the Historic Preservation Office, 200 W. Washington St., 17th floor.
