Arizona's many reputations have certainly shifted over the years, but one fact remains intact: it's a mecca for Midcentury Modern design.

Just ask home-based historian Alison King. The mastermind behind ModernPhoenix.net will be making a special appearance at Phoenix Art Museum on Friday, July 18, as part of Creative Mornings Phoenix's current series, Heritage.

In this Creative Mornings presentation, King, who's hosted her fair share of design talks in the Valley at events including Phoenix Design Week, Modern Phoenix Week, and Pecha Kucha, will discuss Arizona as a mid-century marvel.

To illustrate her presentation, King will exhibit the works of acclaimed architecture photographer Julius Shulman and share her personal experience of bringing his historical artifacts to the Getty Research Institute.

Creative Mornings with Alison King will happen Friday, July 18, from 8:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. inside Phoenix Art Museum. Admission is free and registration is now open, but seating is limited. To reserve your spot, visit creativemornings.com.
