Last night the Phoenix Film Festival announced that it will screen "Starting at the Finish Line: The Coach Buehler Story" for its Opening Night Gala. The film is produced by Phoenix Suns star Grant Hill, who will be in attendance for the gala, along with the film's director and Coach Buehler himself.

More than 800 films were submitted for this year's festival. Jason Carney, festival director, suggests "Crime After Crime", "Thespians" and "Ceremony" as must-sees for the week of films, which kicks off March 31 at the Harkins Scottsdale 101.

This will be the film festival's eleventh year in Phoenix. According to Carney, the event that began as a 3-day celebration with 3,000 attendees has grown into an 8-day festival that's expecting more than 20,000 film fans.

"During the eight days of the Phoenix Film Festival it becomes its own community in a way," he says. "With all the events happening at one place, film lovers come together with filmmakers to celebrate the art of film."

The Phoenix Film Festival starts March 31 and runs through April 7 at the Harkins Scottsdale/101 Theater, 7000 E. Mayo Blvd. in Phoenix. For more information and to purchase tickets, check out the event's website.
