Since there's really no better accessory than a cocktail in your hand, each week brings you a tasty adult beverage from one of our favorite drinking establishments, complete with recipe.
This week: The Creamsicle at The Lodge.
Last night, The Lodge celebrated its anniversary with free food for all: Mac and cheese, buffalo meatloaf, grilled chicken, fish tacos and more were laid out near the pools tables. We stroll up to the bar through the crowd and ask for something North Woodsy: The bartender whips up a Creamsicle instead.
One big whiff and we're back to childhood summers up north, licking a creamsicle straight from the ice cream truck by the lake. It goes down just as smooth, like an Orange Julius on the rocks.
(Recipe after the jump.)
Creamsicle
½ oz. Ketel One Oranje
1 oz. Pinnacle Whipped
Splash Sweet and Sour mix
Splash Orange Juice
Top with Soda Water
Pour the flavored vodkas in a shaker over ice. Add a splash of OJ and sour mix, and shake vigorously. Empty into a pint glass, top with soda water, and garnish with a cherry.
We were en route to the Crown Room, but the giant blow up snowman and Santa Claus atop The Lodge decked out in lights caught our eye. When cigar smoke poured out of a private party, we abandoned our highly anticipated white cosmos in favor of a cozier venue.
The Lodge's heated patio was just that: Plenty of tables crowded with people, heaters warming the cool night, and a game of corn hole in play. Lucky us: A delicious drink, free food, and free entertainment. Chalk one up to The Lodge.
