If you're a local artist, you've got plenty to keep your hands busy these days.
Just check out our recent post that describes some application opportunities. Now it's time to add five more to that list. We're talking Petersen House Art Festival, Streetscape Public Art Project, Scottsdale Arts Festival, Phoenix Sister Cities International Competition for Artists with Disabilities and Spec10 Gallery.

Petersen House Art Festival, Deadline September 15
The Tempe Artist Guild and Tempe History Museum are looking for participants for the Petersen House Art Festival, slated for November 6. It's going to have everything a typical festival has: art booths, family-friendly activities, and food. The Petersen house will be open and, last year, there were over 400 attendees at this free festival. For application details, click here.
Phoenix Sister Cities International Competition for Artists with Disabilities, Deadline October 1
Artists who are over 19 years old, have a disability, and live in AZ or one of Phoenix's nine sister cities (click here for a list) are eligible. This year, the contest's theme is "One World, One Place, One Home." Entrants should send two dimential watercolors, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, photography, mixed media, and computer generated art no larger than 24"x30" to: AIC CD, 4545 North 36th Street, Suite 125A, Phoenix, AZ 85018. 7th Avenue Streetscape Public Art Project, Deadline October 4 (for poets) & October 11 (for artists)
The time has come, once again, to throw your hats in the ring for the 7th Avenue Streetscape. This public art project rotates works by three local visual artists and poets each year at 7th Avenue and Glenrosa. If you're an artist or poet who has not previously been awarded a public art commission, you're eligible. Click here for all the application requirements.
Scottsdale Arts Festival 2011, Deadline October 12
Check it out; it's another festival. The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts wants artists working in all media to participate at the 41st annual Scottsdale Arts Festival on March 11 through 13. Applicants will be judged by a jury of art professionals and prizes in over ten categories will be awarded. Spec10 Gallery, Open Deadline
We discovered a glorious thing: A call to artists that doesn't have a deadline. Spec10
Gallery, a division of a fine art consulting company, is one of
Scottsdale's "pop-up galleries." Spec10
prefers artists with a cohesive collection, prior gallery experience,
and experience with self-promotion. Email 5 to 6 images of your work with size, price, and title; an artist bio; and a link to your website to [email protected].
Now get to work.
Sunnyslope Artwalk, Deadline September 10
The Sunnyslope Artwalk is on October 9 and will take place along Central Avenue and Dunlap Road and will head south toward the canal. Selections will be made by the Sunnyslope 2nd Saturday committee.
