Tikker Calculates, Counts Down to Your Death

Life is short.

And while it's easy enough to get caught up in the daily drama of bad breakups, canceled TV shows, and the discontinuation of your favorite pumpkin ale, it's almost comforting to remember we're all going to die.

Or at least that's the angle a new Kickstarter campaign is taking.

Tikker is a digital wrist watch that literally counts down the years, days, hours, minutes, and even seconds of your natural life.

It's obviously a rough estimate; the project's two-year development doesn't allow manufacturers enough to time for users to literally die on their watch. The Tikker is not intended to be a morbid reminder of your mortality.

Rather, the campaign states:

"While death is non-negotiable, life isn't. The good news is that life is what you make of it - and oboy can it be beautiful! All we have to do is learn how to cherish the time and the life that we have been given, to honor it, suck the marrow from it, seize the day and follow our hearts. And the best way to do this is to realize that seconds, days and years are passing never to come again. And to make the right choices."

To calculate their personal expiration dates, users of the Tikker simply need to fill out a questionnaire and deduct their age from the initial result. Admittedly, the campaign says that there are still some bugs to work out with the prototype including changing materials and finding a battery that can last as long as its user.

The Tikker Kickstarter campaign is currently seeking financial backers to reach its goal of $25,000 by November 1, promising its signature "death watches" to donors of $39 of more.
